After doing several jobs as diverse as artesian well-borer and sound engineer, I settled on teaching Science (specialising in Physics) for over 30 years. During the last 13 years of teaching I was also the Careers Lead in a large East Sussex comprehensive school. Over that time I had the pleasure of being involved in university widening participation programmes and projects with local employers and the East Sussex Careers Hub, including one focused on encouraging greater diversity in engineering.
Since retiring from teaching I have completed my level 6 qualification in Careers Adivice and Guidance and spent the last year working as a Careers adviser in local schools and colleges for MFSH.

Sue Rhodes
My name is Sue Rhodes. I qualified at a Careers Officer many years ago, way back in the 1980s to be precise – whilst a long time ago, I am still young at heart. Over the years, I have worked with lots of young people, aged from 14 to 19, in local schools and colleges providing impartial careers information, advice and guidance which, I strongly believe, has helped them to make informed decisions about their futures.
Over an extensive period of time, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and professional experience, and it gives great joy and satisfaction to draw upon this expertise in my role as an established Careers Officer working with local young people.
