Good to see CIAG being given the importance it deserves
Hastings Academy Careers Fayre
What an amazing day we had at Hastings Academy today. Delivering a whole school careers fayre was challenging but SO rewarding. All students engaged with the employers and providers, staff were fantastically supportive and none of it would have been possible without these wonderful employers and education providers. Thankyou!
Half-Term Approaches
Phew!! that was a very busy first term for the new business. The team here at My Future Starts Here East Sussex has delivered nearly 600 guidance interviews to year 11 students, not to mention some early support for year 10s and assembly for year 8. We’ve had some wonderful feedback from our partner schools and we’re developing our offer to meet demand.
Here’s to a restful break - enjoy some rest and relaxation all.
What does the future of careers look like?
It all begins with an idea.
Last week I attended the Westminster Forum “Next steps for careers guidance in England's schools and post-16 settings”
So interesting to get an idea of what the future holds for the guidance sector. My key takeaways were:
-The new governments commitment and drive for careers
-National Careers Service and Job Centre Plus merging
-Honouring the manifesto pledge of 2 weeks work experience - this will likely be gradated , not necessarily a 2 week block
-Training 1,000 new careers advisers
Alex Iles described careers as the octopus underpinning employment, progression, skills development. Feeling hopeful for the future of our profession.
Back to school and college
It all begins with an idea.
September is here and we all have that back to school excitement. Our advisers are already in schools meeting with students and supporting them to aim high and achieve their goals. We are also offering INSET for all our partner schools and broadening our own horizons here at My Future Starts Here East Sussex, as we meet with new client schools and plan for our future. Watch this space for news on what’s happening in the guidance sector
A New Beginning
It all begins with an idea.
My Future Starts Here as we knew it is no more! With the retirement of the wonderful Pru Blackwell we have evolved into My Future Starts Here East Sussex.
I’ve spent the summer setting up the new business and getting ready for the next academic year. Flying solo - but with the same fabulous team of associates.
Looking forward to working with schools and colleges in East Sussex, Brighton and further afield.
